Nelley is a wife and mother of two young children. In late September of 2010, Nelley took the flu shot and within a month it had caused Guillan-Ba
rre' syndrome to set in and left her completely paralyzed. Nelley's husband, Jim, was the primary caregiver of the children, Stone, 2 and Elle, 4 months. Stone is a special-needs child that requires one of his parents to stay home with him. With Jim being at home, this left the Lehr family with no income coming into the home. Caring for a Cause put together a Ladies Luncheon, "An Afternoon with the Girls". It was a huge success and raised over $7,000.00 for the Lehr family. Nelley is now almost fully recovered after three months on a vent and four months of total paralysis.
